The Ely is Finished!

I have finally completed my senior thesis project! I chose to do illustrations and package design for Celestial Seasonings tea. This is a theoretical project it's not actually intended for Celestial Seasonings. I decided to do a mythology theme, and here they all are!

This is Sun Wukong the "Monkey Lord". He is from a Chinese scroll of poems called "Journey to the West". He is a mischievous deity who eats peaches of immortality to live forever. He is the epitome of strength, speed, and cunning, often getting into trouble with the other gods of the heavens. He is said to be able to shapeshift, fly upon clouds, and utilize all the powers and teachings of Buddha.

Anubis is the overseer of the dead in Egyptian mythology. He created the art of embalming and weighs the souls of the dead against a feather. If the soul is lighter from good deeds they go on to the afterlife, if not their souls are devoured and they no longer exist. He was a beloved symbol of the Egyptians and their desire for immortality and ever lasting life.

Most are familiar with Greek mythology and especially of the goddess Athena. She is the goddess of wisdom, strength, valor, strategy, and the matron of Athens. She favored Odysseus and helped him return home after the Trojan war. Her symbols are the owl, the olive branch, and citrus fruits. She is also the go to goddess for strength and luck in battle as well as the goddess of scholars.

Last but not least Freyja from Norse mythology. Freyja is the representation of all things feminine. She is beauty personified. As the goddess of passion, abundance, fertility, and love, she helps decide who dies in battle and is worthy of Valhalla. She has a twin brother named Freyr who is associated with farming and the hunt. Freyja rides upon the clouds in a chariot drawn by two gray house cats.
